Melting Pot Made in Wrocław
Laboratory of improvisation within the Project
of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 | LAB. 3

Laboratory of improvisation Melting Pot Made in Wrocław has been hosting young artists from Europe for the last three years. We have also invited the audience to take part in open rehearsals of this unusual collective. The initiative kicked off under the aegis of Jazztopad Festival in 2013 as a follow up to the previous international platforms (JazzPlaysEurope, Take Five: Europe). What’s new? Melting Pot welcomes the cooperation of musicians, dancers and visual artists.

Talented artists will be selected by Jazztopad festival and other international partners from Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg and Estonia. Wrocław is the hub of those artistic endeavors but the artists also have the opportunity to perform abroad, in Dortmund and Aarhus. Ten editions of the Melting Pot Made in Wrocław will find their climax in 2016. The city will be an open venue for improvised actions, producing a marriage of various art forms.

This third edition of the laboratory is unique. We are working with ISCM during the World Music Days 2014 in Wrocław. Artists, apart from working on the works for the final concert of the event,  will prepare new compositions. The works will be selected by the ISCM from among composers representing Israel, Slovakia, Italy and Faroe Islands.
